What are the iden­ti­ty ver­i­fi­ca­tion checks?

  • Begin­ning on the 18th Novem­ber, 2025 it is going to be a legal require­ment for all direc­tors and PSCs of lim­it­ed com­pa­nies to ver­i­fy their iden­ti­ty.
  • From this date all new direc­tors and PSCs will need to ver­i­fy their iden­ti­ty.
  • For all exist­ing direc­tors and PSCs it will be a grad­ual process over the year with the check hav­ing to be done before any doc­u­ments are sub­mit­ted to Com­pa­nies House. For most peo­ple this will be the sub­mis­sion of the con­fir­ma­tion state­ment.
  • In most cas­es you will only need to ver­i­fy your iden­ti­ty once, as when this is done you are pro­vid­ed with a unique per­son­al code.

Can rus­sell + rus­sell do this for me?

To allow us to be able to sub­mit doc­u­ments to Com­pa­nies House on behalf of our clients, rus­sell + rus­sell have reg­is­tered as an Autho­rised Cor­po­rate Ser­vice Provider (ACSP). Being an ACSP does mean that we could also do the iden­ti­ty checks, how­ev­er after some research we have dis­cov­ered the costs involved for soft­ware and train­ing is quite sig­nif­i­cant. We don’t feel right in charg­ing our clients for a ser­vice which can be done for free through Com­pa­nies House, espe­cial­ly when the infor­ma­tion you would need to pro­vide us is the same as what you upload to Com­pa­nies House to do the checks.

How do I do the ver­i­fi­ca­tion check through Com­pa­nies House?

The process to ver­i­fy your iden­ti­ty is rel­a­tive­ly sim­ple and we have record­ed a Zoom clip and also cre­at­ed step by step instruc­tions to help guide you through the process.

What do you do once you have your per­son­al code?

  • Keep it in a safe place as you may need it in the future.
  • Pro­vide us with a copy of the code as this will allow us to file doc­u­ments on your behalf.
