When is an improvement an improvement

Hi everyone, An improvement isn’t an improvement until it is shared How often do you see different levels of performance across team members within your business? It’s easy to write this off as “just the way things are” but don’t your customers deserve better. Imagine what it would do for your business if you had a set standard that was consistently met – because the systems and processes in place ensured that was the case (rather than relying on someone’s expertise). If you’ve got one team member out performing everyone else – what is it they are doing that is so different from everyone else? Wouldn’t you want that knowledge to be shared across the team? Maybe that’s why this phrase resonated with me so much. If you have a process that has better results but you don’t share it with the team, then it’s not really an improvement. An improvement has to be implemented across the whole business. As a business you are a team – you can’t have some people winning whilst others lose. We all win together. So if there is an improvement that benefits others – we need to share it with the whole team. That way we can all perform better! That’s why we have now set up a WhatsApp group and everyone has to put in an improvement every 2 weeks. That way they are shared with everyone. The other benefit is that improvements beget improvements…..but more on that next week! Take care until the next time Russell + Russell |
